Boyce"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>RL Boyce<\/strong>\u00a0(born August 15, 1955) is a Grammy nominated\u00a0blues\u00a0singer, songwriter, and guitarist born and raised in\u00a0Como,\u00a0Mississippi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is a protege of\u00a0Hill country blues\u00a0musicians including\u00a0R L Burnside, and\u00a0Mississippi Fred McDowell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boyce began his career in the early 1960s playing drums for his uncle, the\u00a0fife and drum\u00a0performer\u00a0Othar Turner.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/R.L._Boyce#cite_note-3\"> <\/a><\/sup>Later he was the drummer for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jessie_Mae_Hemphill\">Jessie Mae Hemphill<\/a>\u00a0and is heard on her 1990 album,\u00a0<em>Feelin&#8217; Good<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His debut full-length album, entitled\u00a0<em>Ain&#8217;t the Man&#8217;s Alright<\/em>\u00a0was released when he was 52 years old and featured musicians including\u00a0Cedric Burnside,\u00a0Luther Dickinson, and\u00a0Calvin Jackson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His second album release,\u00a0<em>Roll and Tumble<\/em>\u00a0was released on September 8, 2017 on\u00a0Waxploitation Records. The album included the father and son double drumming team of\u00a0Cedric Burnside\u00a0(R.L. Burnside&#8217;s drummer and grandson) and\u00a0Calvin Jackson.
