{"id":1403,"date":"2021-04-22T11:35:55","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T11:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/folksyblues.com\/?page_id=1403"},"modified":"2021-04-22T11:35:55","modified_gmt":"2021-04-22T11:35:55","slug":"asie-payton","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/folksyblues.com\/?page_id=1403","title":{"rendered":"Asie Payton"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Asie Reed Payton<\/strong>\u00a0(April 12, 1937 \u2013 May 19, 1997)\u00a0was an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\">American<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blues\">blues<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Musician\">musician<\/a>, who lived most of his life in\u00a0Holly Ridge,\u00a0Mississippi, in the\u00a0Mississippi Delta. Born in\u00a0Washington County, Mississippi, he sang and played the\u00a0guitar, but made his living as a\u00a0farmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Near the end of his life he recorded one\u00a0album,\u00a0<em>Worried<\/em>, for the\u00a0Fat Possum Records\u00a0label, which was released after his death. He died of a\u00a0heart attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He appeared and performed in the\u00a0documentary\u00a0film,\u00a0<em>You See Me Laughin&#8217;: The Last of the Hill Country Bluesmen<\/em>. There is also a track by Payton on the\u00a0<em>Big Bad Love<\/em>\u00a0soundtrack. Payton&#8217;s song, &#8221;I Love You&#8221; from the album,\u00a0<em>Worried<\/em>, was used in the closing credits of the 2002\u00a0film,\u00a0<em>The Badge<\/em>.
