Only A Hobo
Bob Dylan
[G]As I was out walking on a [C]corner one [G]day,
I spied an old hobo, in a doorway he [D]lay.
His [G]face was all grounded in the [C]cold sidewalk [G]floor
And I guess he’d been there for the [D]whole night or [G]more.

[C]Only a hobo, but [G]one more is gone
Leavin’ nobody to sing his sad [D]song
[G]Leavin’ nobody to [C]carry him [G]home
[G]He was only a hobo, but [D]one more is [G]gone

[G]A blanket of newspaper [C]covered his [G]head,
As the steps was his pillow, the street was his [D]bed.
[G]One look at his face showed the [C]hard road he’d [G]come
And a fistful of coins showed the [D]money he [G]bummed

[C]Only a hobo, but [G]one more is gone
Leavin’ nobody to sing his sad [D]song
[G]Leavin’ nobody to [C]carry him [G]home
[G]Only a hobo, but [D]one more is [G]gone
————————————————————-
[G]It takes much of a man to [C]see his whole life go [G]down,
To look up on the world from a hole in the [D]ground,
[G]To wait for your future like a [C]horse that’s gone [G]lame,
[G]To lie in the gutter and [D]die with no [G]name?

[C]Only a hobo, but [G]one more is gone
[G]Leavin’ nobody to sing his sad [D]song
[G]Leavin’ nobody to [C]carry him [G]home
[G]Only a hobo, but [D]one more is [G]gone
————————————————————-
[C]Only a hobo, but [G]one more is gone
Leavin’ nobody to sing his sad [D]song
[G]Leavin’ nobody to [C]carry him [G]home
He was only a hobo, but [D]one more is [G]gone, m-m-[C]m
only a hobo, but [D]one more is [G]gone
